October 2010. Second round of the cup. A sold-out Bieberer Berg – and a night when Offenbach believed in the impossible.
Dortmund arrived as the big favourites, but the Kickers threw themselves into every duel, defended with full passion and held the Bundesliga top club to a 0-0 draw through 120 nerve-wracking minutes.
Dortmund pushed again and again for the breakthrough. But Robert Wulnikowski couldn't be beaten. The Offenbach goalkeeper kept his side in the game with spectacular saves and ultimately became the hero of the penalty shootout too.
Wulnikowski saved from Lucas Barrios and Robert Lewandowski. Then Sead Mehic stepped up – and converted the decisive penalty.
4-2. The sensation was complete.
The underdogs had beaten the big favourites. Bieberer Berg erupted – and an entire city celebrated a cup night for the ages.
Passion. Belief. Cup madness.
