30 June 2026 – Netherlands vs Morocco 1-1 AET (2-3 on penalties) – Penalty drama with an ice-cold ending! ⚽🔥
A nerve-shredding knockout duel in Monterrey is only decided in the very last second – and ends with a Moroccan eruption of joy. The Netherlands take the lead through Cody Gakpo and look like winners for long periods, but Issa Diop heads Morocco level at 1-1 in stoppage time, taking the game into extra time. Morocco keep their cool in the penalty shootout – and it is Ismael Saibari who converts the decisive spot-kick to make it 3-2. Yassine Bounou becomes the hero with his saves, while Saibari delivers the one moment that decides it all. With this win, Morocco advance to the round of 16 against Canada.
